Palliative and End of Life Care (PEOLC) Special Interest Group

TYAC are establishing a special interest and development group that will bring together health care professionals with a passion for improving the PEOLC for young people with cancer in the UK.

The group will act primarily as a forum for networking, sharing best practice and learning from each other’s experiences.  It is hoped that as a group we can better understand the complexities and challenges that young people navigate with a poor or uncertain prognosis, especially within the social and psychological context of adolescence.

In addition to the networking and shared learning, the group will work with the TYAC Practice Development Group to inform good practice guides for PEOLC, and with the TYAC Professional Education Group on education resources. We will also act as an advisory body for the development of local pathways and practices. We hope to also inspire research and patient/supporter engagement projects that amplify the young person voice within the palliative care community, and link in with other specialist groups to align TYAC PEOLC with NHS England’s strategy for ACP, Personal Care and Support Planning.

The group is open to both TYAC and CCLG members who work within the 13-25 year age group. The group will initially be chaired by Claire Lewis-Norman, TYA Nurse Specialist, Bristol. Please register your interest for the group by completing the form below.

The first meeting will take place via Zoom on Monday 27 June at 10am. The meeting is free but please register here so we can send you further details.
